The top with a central rectangular reserve superbly set in quarter veneers using the very rare and ancient Egyptian stone granito verde della sedia di San Lorenzo. The ebonised surround is inset with numerous rare and beautifully shaped marble specimens, the four corners with magnificently angled and figured Italian alabaster. The entire frieze and all four legs are inset with well figured and carefully matched marble specimens, each set within a shaped gilded recess
