A pair of William IV rosewood library armchairs, circa 1830 POA

A good pair of rosewood library armchairs. Upholstered in figured blue material with loose squab seat cushions, the chairs have tall shaped and curved backs with outswept lyre-shaped arms with acanthus carved scrolling above a carved apron with foliate detail and paterae to either end, lobed and turned baluster legs with brass round cup castors.

The lyre fronted Library Chair is a known Gillows pattern and such chairs were used in a number of residences that the firm furnished during the Regency and early Victorian periods.
