A Gillows extending quarter-sawn oak circular table, early 19th Century

A superb early 19th Century quarter-sawn oak centre table by Gillows, now with custom made Corian extending leaves supported on the original slide-out bearers. The top above a substantial tripod base, the outstanding carving of the legs epitomised by the magnificent scalloped scroll carving to the knees and the exceptional quality of the ball and claw feet

This table is believed to be one of only two that were ever produced and is mentioned in the definitive two volume history of the firm: Gillows of Lancaster and London 1730-1840 Susan E. Stuart. Antique Collectors Club 2008
